Welcome to the new GetOutGlasgow

In the 2 years since I launched GetOutGlasgow, it’s seen quite a number of iterations in terms of both the type of content we’ve been publishing and the look of the site. Today we’re launching the latest version and, in my opinion, the best yet. Built completely from scratch, using the latest techniques, the site has been built from the ground up with mobile users primarily in mind (given that consistently 60 to 70% of the site’s traffic is on handheld devices), but it should still look pretty good on desktop too!

Every feature of the site has been hand built, in order to rely on zero third-party plugins which traditionally slow down this kind of website and the typography has been carefully considered to make it as pleasurable a reading experience as possible, on a wide range of devices.

So what’s next for GetOutGlasgow? More content! The focus will remain primarily on bar/restaurant reviews and guides, and we will also be working hard to update the existing guides over the coming weeks to make sure we bring you the most up-to-date, relevant, information. The plan is also to add a lot more rich content to the guides, pulling in the likes of TripAdvisor ratings and relevant Tweets about each entry.

As always, contributions from anyone looking to get a bit of writing out into the ether are always welcome. Just head over to the contribute page if you’re interested in getting involved. And if you’d like to get in touch for any reason whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
