St Andrew’s Day. Tomorrow is the day we celebrate all that’s great and good about this fine nation – and the day that officially kicks off the Christmas craziness. Sloans Ceilidh
Sloans boast one hootenanny of a ceilidh every Friday night, but it’s going to be extra special tonight on St. Andrew’s Eve. With the ceilidh band on top form, revellers can enjoy a fine Friday feast in the Sloans ballroom, before working it off with some serious dancing. So prep your Gay Gordons, ready yourself for the Dashing White Sergeant and form an orderly Circassian Circle; Who needs DJs when you’ve got jigs? This is going to get wild.
Arisaig Feast of Scotland
Arisaig sure know a thing or two about real Scottish cuisine, from black pudding or Haggis, to Shetland Mussels or West Coast Scallops; So where better to dine in style on St. Andrew’s Day? The Merchant Square bar is hosting a very special Feast of Scotland, where you can sample the delights of the proverbial pantry that is the land and lochs of Scotland. An atmospheric setting for any meal, but even more special this weekend, celebrate St. Andrew’s Day gourmet style, and get a few drams in while you’re at it.
St Andrew’s Day Party, Grosvenor Cafe
Head to Ashton Lane tomorrow night for a fantastic St. Andrew’s sock hop soiree. They’ll have some great Scottish grub on offer with all your local fare favourites, Cullen Skink and Cheddar Scones, Mince and Tatties, Rosemary & Cider Mussels, and Grosvenor Cranachan. Nom. After your Scottish supper, dance the night away with a special edition of West End Twist. A funky fling, a cool ceilidh, and a bagpipe-free bash – DJ Snafu will churn out a smooth Scot blend of motown, soul and rhythm and blues. The perfect alternative St. Andrew’s Day party.
