Well thank goodness for that. It’s Friday. And that means it’s time for your weekly instalment of some whopper gems of Glasgow nightlife. And this weekend, is a freakin’ corker. Whether you’re a foodie, a funkster or a fresher, it’s all going on in Glasgow over the next three nights. So check out my best of the best, DesignMyNight recommendations for what to do in Glasgow this weekend.
Friday Night
You Need To Hear This Fresher’s Tour @ Nice ‘n’ Sleazy
You need to hear this. No seriously. You do. YNTHT is a fresher’s party (yep, fresher’s week’s still going) without a twist. No naff themes, no ridiculous costumes, just good times, a few free bevvies and one seriously swell line up. Brought to you by the cool kids from Vice Magazine’s musical offshoot, Noisey, you know this Friday night party in Nice ‘n’ Sleazy is going to be a good ‘un. This party posse have been touring the student cities of the UK over the last few weeks and Glasgow is their last hurrah, so expect Superfood, The Wytches, Maxixe and some cracking DJs to make this one, a stormer.
Saturday Night
Supermax @ The Berkeley Suite
Take a trip to funky town this Saturday night in one of Glasgow’s coolest clubs, The Berkeley Suite. Everyone’s favourite disconaut Billy Woods leads the way with his monthly Supermax session, cooking up and churning out all manner of groovy tunes and funky beats in the basement dancehall. The ultimate Saturday night party for anyone who just wants to dance; wallflowers stay at home, because this guy will get you busting some serious shapes whether you like it or not. Supermax is ma-hoo-sively popular folks, so do be sure to get down in time for doors, as the place will be packed within the hour.
Sunday Night
offKILTR Street Feastival @ The Barras
Nom. After a massively successful (and delicious) first foray into festivals, the offKILTR Events, Glasgow Street Feastival is back, feeding, watering, and culturing the city all weekend long. Held (under a roof!) in The Barras, the event, organised by Scotland’s biggest social media platform, is a celebration of all that’s great in Glasgow, with awesome food, cracking DJs, cool tunes, good people and a few bevvies and bargains too. Among those taking part are Bar Soba, Smoak, Babu Bombay Street Kitchen and Smokey & the Bandit. Free for KILRT members, sign up and get on down for a great community event.
Now didn’t I tell you this weekend was going to be a corker? So enjoy peepes, wherever your weekend takes you. Whether it’s kicking it with cool bands and freshers, whether it’s eating your weight in pulled pork down the East End or even if it’s disco dancing behind a pawn shop at the side of the motorway, there are many marvellous weekends to be had, so make sure yours is one of them.
