What's On in Glasgow This Weekend - Get Out Glasgow!

Design Your Weekend! 25th October 2013

It’s Freaky Friday. So, we might be a week away from the 31st, but spooky season is thoroughly upon us with lots of Halloween events kicking off this weekend. If you’re a weekend warrior, you might want to get your fright night fix in early – so root out that sexy {insert profession/animal/inanimate object of choice here} costume, and hit the town. For those not feeling the fancy dress, there’s lots of other good stuff going on for you too. Get some weekend inspiration with our DesignMyNight pick of what’s on in Glasgow this weekend.

Friday Night

Scantily Beast @ Stereo

Scantily Beast at Stereo GlasgowThis is going to be a fun one. Those wily folks at Frogbeats have organised a rather spectacular session to kick off your weekend. A dance party of epic proportions, this is going to be one bendy-leg blend of jungle, drum & bass, dub reggae and nu swing. Held in cool vegan bar, Stereo, some fierce DJs will be bringing the jams, as Frizzo, Rize, Samson Sounds, Denney, and Kryptonik Sound Kollective take over the turntables. Costumes are encouraged - for the week that’s in it – but keep them light, because this is going to be a fizzy, fun, skanky, and sweaty session.

Saturday Night

Nightmare on Queen Street @ Cirque

Nightmare on Queen Street GlasgowMerchant City club Cirque will be kicking off a week of frightening festivities this Saturday night with Cirque Du Freak. The club, which already has a penchant for creepy clowns and circus freaks, will get a Nightmare on Queen Street makeover, with eerie entertainers and devilish decorations. Set to be a week of wild sessions, weird tricks and wonderful treats, Saturday is a chance to get a sneak peak of what’s in store. Of course, the dress code is fancy, so while I’m not sure full-on Freddy Krueger will make it past the bouncers, all other raucous regalia is welcome.

Sunday Night

Boozy Breakfast @ Skinny’s

Skinnys Bar Restaurant Glasgow West EndSo whether you’ve spent your weekend bobbing for apples (try doing it in vodka) or bouncing around the dancefloor, chances are, by Sunday morning, you’re haggard, you’re hungover and you’re hungry. That’s where new Glasgow bar Skinny’s comes in. Opening this weekend, the burger bar has great cocktail promos and awesome eats. But best of all for Sunday morning waifs and strays, it opens from 10am with proper diner-style breakfasts. Pancake stacks with maple and bacon, or breakfast rolls with Tattie scones and pudding - add a Bloody Mary, and you have the makings of a cracking Sunday in Glasgow.

Whatever you’re at this weekend in Glasgow, monster mashes, freaky feasts or creepy cocktails, enjoy. And for Halloween antics over the next seven days, check out our DesignMyFright (see what I did there?) guide to the coolest, quirkiest, and downright devilish-est spooky sessions in Glasgow this Hallo-week, (I just coined that, what do you reckon?)
